Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery night shift position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and an active CT or compact RN license.
Details
- Short term acute care, Level I Trauma Center hospital setting
- Labor and Delivery unit
- Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- On-call requirement of two 4-hour blocks per 6-week schedule
- No floating required
- Block scheduling accommodated
- Facility averages 200-300 births per month
- Uses Epic charting system
- Patient ratio of 1:2
Requirements
- Active CT or compact RN license required prior to start date
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required (1.5 years considered with Level I trauma or travel experience)
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- ACLS and AWHONN Beginner certifications preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
- 1 professional reference required
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required, with medical or religious exemptions only
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive care across labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn stages
- Perform fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
- Support high-risk antepartum patients and assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries
- Scrub and circulate for C-sections and assist with surgical procedures such as cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation
- Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Provide newborn care including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation
- Support postpartum patients with lactation support, fundus checks, and wound care
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- RTO requests greater than 7 days require additional approval
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Candidates must live outside a 75-mile radius of the hospital to be considered
- Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to return as a traveler
- Travelers must be prepared to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
