Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position at a Certified Stroke Center requiring NY licensure, EPIC experience, and ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications.

Details

• Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Certified Stroke Center with PCU or medsurg/tele patient care model
• Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, COVID, infectious disease, pre/post-operative, endocrine, and CVA diagnoses
• Average daily census of 23 with 30 beds and 17 rooms
• Patient ratios are 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Floating required to sister units including West 2, West 3, and Observation
• EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required in hand
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• EPIC charting experience required
• PCU-trained candidates preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and heparin protocols
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
• Previous employees must have a 6-month break in service system-wide before reapplying
• Care includes managing neurological and psychiatric conditions such as CVA, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal
• Candidates with foreign education may require additional verification
