Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week assignment requiring at least 1 year of experience, EPIC proficiency, and an active NY RN license.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a hospital that is a Certified Stroke Center
• Unit may function as PCU or Med/Surg Tele, with priority given to PCU-trained candidates
• Average daily census of 23 with 3 visits per day across 17 rooms and 30 beds
• Patient ratios are 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights
• Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, COVID/infectious disease, pre- and post-operative, endocrine, and CVA diagnoses
• Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Floating required to sister units, including West 2, West 3, and the Observation unit
• EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required in hand
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access, blood product administration, and PICC/peripheral line management
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with CVA and seizure disorder care, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care, and IV insulin protocols

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to a med/surg-tele patient population within a stroke center setting
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this position

• Previous staff must have completed at least 6 months since their last assignment system-wide to be eligible for rehire
