Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position at a Certified Stroke Center requiring EPIC experience and NIHSS certification.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting that is a Certified Stroke Center
• Unit has 30 beds and 17 rooms with an average daily census of 23
• Patient ratios are 1:5 during days and 1:6 during nights
• Night shift schedule with 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Floating required to sister units including West 2, West 3, and the Observation unit
• Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, COVID, infectious disease, pre and post-operative, endocrine, and CVA diagnoses
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• PCU-trained candidates are prioritized, though the unit may function as PCU or Med/Surg Tele

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required in hand
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, PICC line management, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
• Respiratory skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
• Experience with CVA and seizure disorder care required
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and heparin protocols required
• Wound care and isolation precaution/PPE experience required

• Provide direct patient care for a diverse population including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and post-surgical patients

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered
• Cannot have more than 10 days of requested RTO at time of consideration
• Previous employees must have a 6-month break in service system-wide to be eligible for rehire
