Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring MI licensure and at least 1 year of recent travel experience.
Details
- Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital setting, including a 10-bed Observation/ER Overflow unit
- Observation Unit patient ratios are 1:6 at night and 1:5 during days, with a focus on rapid patient reassessment for discharge readiness
- Other Med/Surg units maintain a staffing ratio of 1:5-6 for nights, which may flex to 8 patients with LPN support
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend work requirement
- Required to float first to other Med/Surg units
- Works alongside a mixed care team including RNs, LPNs, and Techs
- Epic EMR experience preferred
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license required
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required
- Travel experience required; not recommended for first-time travelers unless candidate has recent Observation, Admission, or Short Stay Unit experience
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, wound care, and cardiac drip management required
- Experience with peripheral line care, starting/maintaining IVs, and oxygen administration required
- Proof of flu vaccination required for consideration, or exemption submitted within 48 hours of signing
- Supervisor-level references required
Additional Information
- Responsible for continuous reassessment of patient discharge readiness in a fast-paced admitting and discharging unit
- Holiday coverage is required, and RTO requests during holidays must remain flexible to accommodate staffing needs
- RTO requests limited to no more than 10 days
- Non-billable orientation and annual modules (8 hours) are self-reported and required
- Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a local rate
- Previous Bronson internal travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
- Candidates with a license or background hit must disclose this along with a personal statement prior to submission for facility approval
