Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of ED experience and recent Epic charting experience.
Details
- Work in a Level III Trauma Center ED with 46 beds, including 5 Safe Psych rooms and a Fast Track area (4 hallway spots and 1 room)
- Facility averages 200 patients per day
- Patient population spans pediatrics to geriatrics with cases including trauma, GSW, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health, respiratory issues, and adult psych
- High geriatric population presenting with falls and STEMI
- No invasive neuro procedures such as craniotomies performed
- Minimal pediatric cases, typically transferred to another facility
- Day shift ratio is 1:4-5 with flexibility to 5 based on acuity and staffing
- 12-hour Days/Mids and Mids/Nights shifts available with rotating weekly schedules
- Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
- No floating required
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic charting system, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing
- Central and bedside telemetry monitoring available at the nursing station with no dedicated tele tech
- Supported by ER techs, resource/float nurse, 24/7 RT, ED educator, 24/7 security, house supervisor, social work, and pharmacy
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB
- Recent Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV insertion, and ED medication/drip administration
- Experience with procedural sedation, blood administration, and cardiac medications required
- TNK administration experience preferred
- Must complete and pass Traveler Telemetry Competency exam prior to start
Additional Information
- Perform direct patient care across a wide range of ED case types including trauma, cardiac, stroke, and behavioral health presentations
- Orientation includes a New Employee Orientation day covering badge issuance and Epic training, time in the mental health area and front-desk area, followed by a 12-hour shift with a preceptor
- Schedules are released three weeks at a time, approximately 10 days before the period begins
- Nurse Manager approves requested time off
- Holiday coverage required for 2 of 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- Scrubs may be any professional color
- Modest piercings (studs only) permitted; visible tattoos must be non-offensive
