Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift ICU RN requiring 3 years of ICU experience and a WI or compact RN license for a Level III Trauma Center.

Details

• 17-bed ICU within a Level III Trauma Center, Level II NICU, and Primary Stroke Center facility with 136 total beds
• Patient population includes sepsis, ETOH, IVDA, OD, SI, delirium, GI bleeds, strokes with TPA, ARF, COVID, and DKA
• Surgical patients include general, open abdominal, ortho (total joints), ENT, and OBGYN cases
• Cardiac/vascular patients include fempops, CABG, EVAR, valves, post-cath (radial and femoral), AAA, and amputations
• No complex neuro patients on this unit
• Patient ratio of 1:2 based on acuity
• 12-hour night shifts from 1900-0730 with a 36-hour work week
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Schedule cycle made in 4-week increments
• May float within scope of practice to intermediate units (1:3), MSU, ED Boarding (1:4), and Observation units (1:4) if census dips
• Travelers are prioritized for floating
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and NxStage CRRT equipment

Requirements

• Active RN license (WI or Compact)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required
• Skilled in vent/trach management, invasive line management (art lines, CVP, Swan-Ganz), drains, chest tubes, foley management, post-surgical recovery, post-cath care, CVVH, and CRRT
• Cardiovascular and CV surgery experience preferred, including IABP and Impella familiarity
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Candidate's middle name or initial, DOB, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
• At least one professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Unit supported by 2 CNAs during day shift and 1 at night, a receptionist/HUC from 0700-1930, a charge nurse who occasionally takes patient assignments, and a PM ICU Supervisor Monday through Friday
• Additional support includes phlebotomy for peripheral IV draws, a unit educator, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage, plus an ICU-specific pharmacist during days
• One day of orientation includes meeting with the educator for badge access and system logins, a meet-and-greet with the Nurse Manager, and the remainder of the shift with a preceptor
• Holiday coverage required for every other holiday, with 1 holiday shift required per contract
• RTO requests must be approved through the manager
• Scrubs may be any color but camo, graphics, logos, or designs are not permitted
• Free parking is available on-site
• Clinical interview required, with manager review of any offers
• More than 2 sick calls during the contract will prompt a discussion and possible contract termination
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
• Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
