Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro & Stroke Telemetry position requiring prior travel experience and neurology/stroke patient care background.
Details
- MedSurg Neuro & Stroke unit within a hospital setting
- Typical patient ratio of 1:7
- Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Schedule options of 3x12s or 4x12s available
- Overtime paid after 48 hours for 4x12 schedules
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within the facility
- Holiday coverage required within the contract, including two of three winter holidays
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- 2+ years of RN experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Epic proficiency required
- Previous experience caring for Neurology/Stroke patients required
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
- NIHSS certification
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry (unit and remote monitoring)
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care/management
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draw, and PICC line management
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury care
- Experience with medication administration including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
- Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- Must be able to pass an EKG competency test with a score of 80% or higher
- Must complete required pre-start orientation modules
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to Med/Surg Neuro and Stroke patients in a telemetry unit
- Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for emergency situations
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered
- A driver's license must be provided for address verification prior to offer acceptance
- Candidates with any history of license or background hits will not be considered
- Facility cannot accommodate PAPR fit testing; any history of fit test issues will disqualify candidates
- Longer assignments through January 9, 2027 are available but not required
