Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro & Stroke Telemetry position requiring prior travel experience and NIHSS certification.
Details
- and Medical/Surgical unit specializing in Neurology and Stroke care
- Patient ratio is typically 1:7
- Night shift, 4x12 schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required within the contract
- Two of the three winter holidays required if extending assignment
- Epic EMR system used, proficiency required
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Previous experience caring for Neurology/Stroke patients required
- BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association) required
- NIHSS certification required
- Epic EMR proficiency required
- EKG/telemetry competency testing required with a que passing score of 80% or higher
- No prior license or background history issues will be considered
- PAPR fit testing cannot be accommodated; history of fit test issues will eliminate candidates from consideration
- Driver's license required for address verification prior to offer acceptance
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive Med/Surg nursing care to neurology and stroke patients on a telemetry unit
- Skills utilized may include IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, respiratory care (BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy, oxygen administration), wound care, and cardiac monitoring/dysrhythmia management
- Experience with rapid response/code teams and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias is valued
- Completion of 3 hours of pre-start modules required (billable)
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this RN position
- Located in Coastal Virginia, close to Virginia Beach and Norfolk with access to hiking trails and waterways
