Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro & Stroke Telemetry position requiring prior travel experience and active VA or compact RN license.
Details
- MedSurg Neuro & Stroke unit (6S) within a hospital setting
- Night shift schedule with 3x12 or 4x12 hour options (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Typical patient ratio is 1:7
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Floating required
- Holiday coverage required within the contract, with two of three winter holidays mandatory
- Overtime paid after 48 hours for 4x12 schedules
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Epic EMR proficiency required
- Previous experience caring for Neurology/Stroke patients required
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, cardiac dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code teams
- Skilled in IV therapy, central/peripheral line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
- Experience managing CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury patients
- Proficiency in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management
- No prior license or background hits will be accepted
- Cannot accommodate PAPR fit testing; any history of fit test issues will disqualify candidacy
- Must pass EKG/telemetry proficiency test at 80% or higher with no remediation opportunity
- Valid driver's license required for address verification prior to offer acceptance
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to Med/Surg Neuro and Stroke patients including telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management
- Collaborate with rapid response and code teams as needed
- Complete 3 hours of required pre-start training modules
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this travel position
- Requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration and will be reviewed on a per-case basis
