Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mother/Baby Post Partum position requiring NRP certification and a KS or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a 26-bed GYN-Post Partum unit within a hospital setting
- Care for post partum patients including LDRP, well baby nursery, recoveries, and attending births
- Typical patient ratio of 6-8 patients per nurse
- Unit staffed primarily by RNs with limited PCT support during short staffing
- Uses vitals machine, glucometer, computer, and TCB equipment
- Circumcisions performed on the unit
- Documentation via CPN and Meditech systems
- Night shift schedule from 7p-7a
- Scheduling includes two hard-to-staff shifts (Mon/Fri), plus a full weekend requirement every 3rd week and one additional weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within Women's Services unless cross-trained to Pediatrics and/or NICU
- 13-week assignment length
Requirements
- Active KS or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Mother/Baby or Post Partum specialty required
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required, BSN preferred
- Current certifications required: BLS and NRP (Advanced 9th Edition)
- Ability to assess and identify risk factors for sepsis, VTE/DVT, suicide, malignant hyperthermia, and pressure injury
- Skilled in discharge education, abnormal assessment, pain management, and prioritization of care based on patient acuity
- Familiarity with AIDET and BSSR communication practices
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
- One professional reference required
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to women of childbearing age and their newborns
- Recognize and apply unit-specific workflows, policies, and procedures within the post partum unit
- Required dress code: black scrub pants with Caribbean blue scrub top, vest, or jacket
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
- Local candidates will not be considered under any circumstances
