Description

American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit RN for a night shift role requiring an active IN or compact RN license and BLS certification, with no prior experience required.

Details

• Work in a 16-bed Cardiac ICU (CVCU) providing pre/post open-heart surgery care using a universal bed concept where patients remain in the same private room from surgery through discharge
• Also cares for general ICU, complex cardiology, IABP/Impella, and post-cardiac arrest cooling patients
• Night shift schedule, 6:30p-7a, 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• Clinical educator provides customized orientation

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license (IN or compact) required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required per department compliance
• ADN or ASN required; BSN preferred
• No prior nursing experience required, though previous experience is preferred
• Ability to assess age-specific patient safety issues and implement appropriate safety devices

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including nursing rounds, assessments, treatments, and care coordination for a patient population encompassing cardiac surgery, ICU, and complex cardiology cases
• Facilitate admission, transfer, and discharge activities, including patient and family-centered education
• Delegate tasks appropriately and monitor accuracy of care provided by other team members
• Actively participate in unit-based quality improvement activities such as patient satisfaction, falls prevention, and pressure ulcer/CAUTI monitoring
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary care team members and demonstrate strong communication skills
