Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit/Telemetry position requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Certification.
Details
- Work in the Progressive Care/Telemetry & Pulmonary Step Down Unit of a hospital setting
- 18-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:4-5
- Unit is staffed with 2 PCTs and 1 unit secretary
- Care for patients with moderate physiologic instability, including COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF, and trach patients
- Provide cardiac and respiratory monitoring and management every 2-4 hours
- Utilizes Alaris pumps, Kangaroo pumps, and Pyxis, with computers available in every room
- Documentation completed in Meditech
- Perform oxygen therapy including nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP (up to 80%), and AirVo low flow
- Conduct nursing interventions at least every 3-4 hours, including vital signs and blood glucose monitoring every 4 hours
- Continuous cardiac monitoring and neurological monitoring including NIHSS as needed
- 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Self-scheduling required, including 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- No on-call requirements
- Floating prioritized by travelers first, then PRN staff, then by date last floated
Requirements
- Active KS or compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Certification (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
- No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Deliver nursing care with a focus on courtesy, respect, and teamwork among staff
- Royal blue scrubs required as part of the dress code
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
