Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring Level 1 or 2 trauma experience and prior travel assignment history.
Details
- Hospital-based Operating Room setting with 28 OR rooms running 24/7/365
- Handles 70-85 cases per day across multiple service lines including Ortho (total joints, OTT), General Surgery, Robotics, Organ Transplants (kidney), ENT, Oral/Maxillofacial, Vascular/Thoracic, Urology, and Pediatrics
- Treats both adult and pediatric patient populations
- Uses Epic EMR
- Day shift schedule with a mix of 2x8-hour (0700-1530) and 2x12-hour (0700-1930) shifts, with variable scheduling and no set pattern
- Rotation to night shift (8-hour) required as needed
- Weekend requirement of 2-3 shifts per 6-week schedule (Saturday or Sunday)
- Weekend OR coverage includes 7-8 ORs on Saturday and 5-6 ORs on Sunday, primarily urgent and some scheduled cases
- Team self-schedules for shifts and call coverage
- On-call requirement of 3-4 weekday and 3-4 weekend 4-hour call shifts per 6-week schedule, averaging up to 24 hours max
- Holiday rotation required, with at least 1 holiday per schedule as needed by the unit
Requirements
- Active RN license (VA state or compact) required
- BLS certification required (must be AHA)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Level 1 or 2 trauma experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required (at least 1-2 assignments); first-time travelers not considered
- Neonate and pediatric experience preferred
- Additional trauma experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide perioperative nursing care across a high-volume, multi-specialty surgical service line
- Scrubs are provided
- Holiday coverage required, with at least 1 holiday per schedule
