Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Surgical ICU position requiring transplant experience and post cardiac surgery skills.
Details
- Work in a high acuity Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
- Care for surgical recovery patients including transplant recipients (liver, heart, lung, kidney, pancreas)
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (6:45 AM to 7:15 PM)
- Float requirement to other ICUs and Step-Down Units (SDUs)
- Epic EMR experience required
- No on-call requirements
- No block scheduling requests accommodated
Requirements
- Active RN license (Louisiana or Compact) required in hand upon submission
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of recent SICU experience required
- Required experience with transplant patients (liver, heart, lung, kidney, or pancreas)
- Experience with post cardiac surgery patients directly from the OR required
- Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT/CVVHD) required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Preferred experience with PA catheters and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP)
- Current NURSYS report required, updated within 4 weeks of consideration
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to high acuity surgical and transplant ICU patients
- May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring extended facility presence during emergency events
- Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel position
- Two Manager or Supervisor references (Charge RNs not accepted) required prior to starting the contract
- Orientation held five days a week
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation from the facility before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
