Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical - Neuro night shift position requiring 2+ years of experience and an active NC or Compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Medical Surgical - Neuro unit of a hospital setting
- Patient population includes neuro surgical procedures and neuro diagnoses
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 7:15
- 36 or 48 hour weekly options available
- Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks accepted
- Uses Pyxis, SBAR, and EPIC systems for medication, documentation, and communication
- Manager-based scheduling
- Floating required within or near the facility
- 12-16 weekend shifts required per contract, with some flexibility available
- May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license accepted at submission
- BLS certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
- ACLS and CPI certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Neuro experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- EPIC charting experience preferred
- Skills in neurological/psychiatric care, CVA management, telemetry, IV therapy, and peripheral line management required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Additional Information
- Provide medical surgical nursing care to patients with neurological diagnoses and post-surgical neuro needs
- Complete 2 orientation shifts on the unit following hospital-based orientation
- Navy scrubs required
- Must complete approximately 8-10 hours of acute care modules prior to start and annually
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a lower rate
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
- Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between per diem or travel contract status
- Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
- RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved excluding holidays, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- No additional RTO requests permitted after signing
