Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with adult critical care and emergency department experience for a night shift position in a 700-bed acute care hospital, requiring an OH RRT license in hand at time of consideration.
Details
- Work in a 700-bed acute care hospital with 7 adult ICUs of 16 beds each, plus pediatric and adult acute care units
- Treat adult and geriatric patients, with preferred comfort caring for pediatric populations including Peds ER patients
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:30 to 07:00
- Floating required as needed within the Metro Region between Toledo, Flower, and Bay Park Hospitals, including mid-shift floating to ensure hours are met
- Epic EMR experience required
- Equipment used includes Servo I, Avea, and Bella Vista ventilators
- Scrub color is grey
Requirements
- Current RRT certification along with BLS and ACLS certifications
- NRP certification required prior to start date
- OH RRT license required in hand for consideration; license required if applicable
- Minimum 1 year of experience required, obtained after licensure
- Adult critical care and emergency department experience required
- High-risk delivery experience preferred; candidates without this experience must be open to on-site high-risk training
- Preferred experience with teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I settings
- PALS certification preferred
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skilled in ABG interpretation, ventilator management (BiPAP, CPAP, weaning from mechanical ventilation), and airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with medication administration including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, inhaled steroids, Perforomist, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, and Xopenex
- Preferred experience changing tubing and bags for invasive/arterial lines
Additional Information
- Treat and educate patients with diagnoses including asthma, COPD, emphysema, pneumonia, and other pulmonary and non-pulmonary conditions
- Perform general and critical respiratory care including medication delivery, bronchopulmonary hygiene, hyperinflation therapy, and initiation, management, and weaning of invasive and non-invasive ventilation
- Respond to rapid responses and emergency codes, performing CPR as needed
- Perform blood gas sampling and analysis, specimen collection, and assessment of spontaneous breathing parameters
- Assist with high-risk deliveries and provide basic pediatric respiratory care
- Unit accepts first-time travelers
- Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
- Fingerprinting required for Ohio facility positions involving pediatric, psych, or behavioral health units, with FBI/BCI results taking 4-6 weeks to process
