Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level I Trauma Center requiring 2+ years of emergency department experience and TNCC certification prior to consideration.

Details

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, teaching, short-term acute care facility
  • Patient ratio is 1:5
  • Approximately 60-80% of the Emergency Department consists of admitted patients, with many rooms functioning as ED Holding
  • Assignment currently experiencing an increased number of admit holds
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • 36 or 48-hour shifts available, with 48 hours reserved for travelers with both Level 1 trauma and travel experience
  • Weekend scheduling required as needed, with weekend days defined as Saturday and Sunday and weekend nights as Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
  • No on-call requirement
  • Floating to Peds ED is optional, floating to Adult PCUs is expected based on staffing needs, with potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (New Mexico or Compact), pending license accepted at submission
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required
  • TNCC certification must be obtained prior to submission
  • RQI certifications not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of ER experience required, though candidates with 1.5 years may be considered
  • Level II trauma experience required, Level I trauma experience strongly preferred
  • Travel experience strongly preferred, though candidates with 2+ years of Level I trauma experience may be considered without travel experience
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Trauma and resuscitation experience required
  • Experience with triage and isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

  • Administer medications including IV medications following the seven medication rights, and document and communicate clinical findings
  • Provide emergency and trauma care in a high-acuity Level I Trauma and STEMI/Stroke certified facility
  • Must work 2 out of 3 designated holiday bundles (Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and Day)
  • Christmas RTO is not permitted
  • Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require approval, with no RTO permitted during the first 7 days or last day of the contract
  • COVID vaccine is optional, but candidates must upload vaccination series or a declination for facility reporting purposes
  • Scrub color is black, not facility-provided
  • No local candidates accepted within 100 miles of the facility, and a non-local driver's license is required on file
  • Former staff must have 12 months of separation before returning
  • First-time travelers may be considered only if they have 2+ years of Level I trauma experience; travel experience is otherwise strongly preferred
