Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a NICU position requiring 2 years of NICU experience and offering an opportunity for first-time travelers.
Details
- Work in the NICU of a short-term acute care, Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center teaching hospital
- Care for neonatal patients across a range of gestational ages, including <24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and >34 weeks
- NICU III and NICU IV level of care
- Patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3 depending on acuity
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
- Variable weekend shifts required
- Floating between units and sister facilities required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required at time of submission
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Prior experience with 1:3 patient ratios required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, and administration of blood products
- Experience with UAC/UVC line management
- Proficient in neonatal medication administration including vasopressors, antibiotics, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Experience managing neurologic conditions such as seizure disorders, NAS, and therapeutic hypothermia
- Skilled in respiratory care including ventilator management, HFNC, oscillators, and nitric oxide therapy
- Experience with GI care including NEC management and gavage/breast feedings
- Knowledge of developmental care, thermoregulation, and patient/family teaching
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Must provide full SSN and DOB for compliance purposes
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care across varying acuity levels and gestational ages
- Work within a teaching hospital environment supporting complex neonatal cases
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All RN scrub colors accepted
- No parking fees at this facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must live outside a 50-mile radius
- Candidates must disclose any prior work history at Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or per-diem roles
- RTO requests should be minimal and submitted upfront, as post-offer time off may not be accommodated
