Description
American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a critical access hospital, requiring at least 1 year of PACU experience and a WA or compact RN license, with first-time travelers welcome to apply.
Details
- Inpatient PACU unit within a critical access hospital (no trauma designation)
- Facility is a teaching hospital with 25 staffed beds
- Day shift schedule: 4x10 hours, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Patient ratios: Phase I 1:1, Phase II 1:2
- On-call required: 1-2 weeknights (Monday-Thursday, 5:30 PM-7:00 AM) and 1 weekend per month (Friday 5:30 PM to Monday 7:00 AM)
- No weekend shifts required outside of on-call rotation
- No floating between units required for this specific unit, though floating between sister facilities may be expected
- Uses Epic charting system
- Any scrub color permitted
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in Phase I PACU care including cardiac monitoring, arterial line management, dysrhythmia recognition/management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central line care
- Experience administering medications including IV vasopressors, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents
- Experience with neurological monitoring including EVD and ICP monitoring
- Experience caring for ventilated patients
- Familiarity with various anesthesia types including general, local, MAC, nerve blocks, spinal, conscious sedation, and post-epidural management
- Knowledge of Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol, pain assessment/management, PCA pump management, and RASS
- Experience with surgical patient populations including bariatric, ENT, general, GYN, neuro, ophthalmology, ortho, and vascular cases
- 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
Additional Information
- Provide post-anesthesia care to surgical patients across Phase I and Phase II recovery
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate; local candidates accepted at a lower rate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel employee and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as minimal to no time off can be accommodated
- Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
