Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring transplant recovery experience and a compact or LA RN license.
Details
- Work in a high acuity Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) within a hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Provides general post-op care for surgical recovery patients, including transplant recovery for liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas patients
- Float requirement to other ICUs and step-down units (SDUs)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Day shift schedule with options for 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (6:45-19:15 for 4x12s)
- No block scheduling requests accommodated
- No call-in shifts required
- May be assigned to an emergency response team requiring extended stay during declared emergency events
Requirements
- Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand at time of submission
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications required)
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in SICU specialty required
- Required experience with transplant recovery patients (liver, heart, lung, kidney, or pancreas)
- Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT/CVVHD) required
- Experience with post cardiac surgery care (directly from OR) required
- Preferred experience with pulmonary artery (PA) catheters and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP)
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)
Additional Information
- Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to qualify for this position
- Provide care to high acuity surgical and transplant recovery patients requiring close monitoring and complex interventions
- Orientation is held five days a week
- Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RNs) will be required prior to starting the contract, though not required for initial consideration
- Rest and time off (RTO) requests must be discussed during the interview process
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation from the facility before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers are not considered for this position due to the travel experience requirement
