Description
American Traveler is hiring an Oncology RN with Epic experience and at least 2 years of specialty experience for a Day shift Med/Surg-Oncology position requiring a compact or LA RN license.
Details
- Med/Surg-Oncology unit caring for hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant (BMT), and gynecologic/surgical oncology patients
- 7-bed positive pressure wing dedicated to BMT and acute leukemia patients
- Performs bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies
- 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Uses Epic-integrated Alaris IV pumps, barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps
- Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
- Every other weekend coverage required
- Floating required
- No call-in requirement
Requirements
- Active compact or LA RN license required in hand upon submission
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)
- ONS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of oncology specialty experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management
- Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
- Experience with blood product administration, PICC line management, and port access preferred
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team protocols preferred
- Up-to-date NURSYS report required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to oncology and BMT patients, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
- Support patients with hematologic, gynecologic, and surgical oncology conditions
- Work within a positive pressure isolation environment for immunocompromised patients
- Orientation held five days a week
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RNs) required prior to starting contract, though not required for initial consideration
- Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Former Ochsner Health permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation before returning as a travel employee
- RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process to avoid offer rescission
