Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring Epic experience and a minimum of 2 years of specialty experience.
Details
- Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
- Care for patients recovering from ACDF, craniotomy, deep brain stimulator, fusion, laminectomy, and other neurosurgical procedures
- Patient population includes epilepsy monitoring, stroke, encephalopathy, seizures, and Parkinson's disease cases
- Maintains a 1:4 patient ratio
- Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 7:15
- Float requirement
- No call-in shifts
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active RN license (LA or Compact) required in hand upon submission
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (AHA certifications required)
- CPI certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
- Epic charting system experience required
- Skilled in neurological/psychiatric care, CVA management, and pre/post neurosurgery care
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Up-to-date NURSYS report required
Additional Information
- Provide specialized care for neurological and neurosurgical patient populations including stroke, seizure, and post-surgical monitoring
- Perform cardiac monitoring and respond to emergencies including dysrhythmia management
- May be assigned to an Emergency Team during declared emergency events, requiring staff to remain onsite or serve as part of a relief team
- Orientation held five days a week
- Must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible
- RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this unit
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation from the health system before returning as a traveler
- Two Manager/Supervisor references required prior to starting contract; Charge RN references are not accepted
