Description
American Traveler is hiring a RN - MedSurg/Tele for a 13-week contract requiring 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and a NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Emergency Observation Unit of a Trauma Level III teaching hospital
- 10-bed unit with an average daily census of 8 patients
- Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
- RN to patient ratio of 1:5 and CNA to patient ratio of 1:10
- 12-hour day shifts from 7a-7p on a 36 hour per week schedule
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- EPIC EMR used
- Uses Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing system
- Floating required within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH peds) based on staffing needs
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
- Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, and NGT placement
- Experience with drain and tube management including Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, and foley insertion/management
- Experience managing PCA pumps and medication drips including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IVF
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care within a collaborative team including a Supervisor, Charge RN, Resource RN, RT, Hospitalist, and IV/VAT Team
- Resource RN assists with admissions and discharges
- Phlebotomy responsibilities shared between RNs and the IV team
- Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays, with any unmet contracted hours added to the end of the contract
- Navy scrub color required
- Free employee parking deck available
- Unit offers a supportive team culture with activities such as a book club and group Netflix watching
- First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the position
- Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
