Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring an active SC or Compact RN license and prior Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital environment
• Patient ratios of 1:6-7, with flexing to 1:7 during unplanned staffing shortages
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Required to work every other weekend
• PRN on-call requirement for low census situations
• Floating required within scope to like units or sister facilities
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Active SC or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
• BLS certification required
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• 2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skills in Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Telemetry, Insulin administration, and Rapid Response required
• Additional preferred skills include accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draw, PICC line management, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, heparin and PCA administration, dysrhythmia management, telemetry remote monitoring, pre/post hemodialysis management, surgical drain care, and total joint replacement care

• Previous permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• All requested time off must be submitted at the time of consideration, with approval based on facility needs
• During hurricane season (June through November, with peak activity in August and September), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
• Block scheduling requests may be submitted but are not guaranteed
