Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring SC or compact RN license and 2 years of experience.
Details
- Medical Surgical unit setting
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
- Patient ratios of 1:6-7, with flex to 1:7 during unplanned absences
- Every other weekend required
- PRN low census on-call required
- Floating within scope to like units/sister facilities required
- Epic EMR used
Requirements
- Active SC or Compact RN license required in hand prior to start
- BLS certification required (AHA only)
- ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
- 2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Telemetry, insulin administration, and rapid response required
- Skills such as IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, tracheostomy care, colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube care, PPE/isolation precautions, wound care, cardiac monitoring, and use of rapid response/code teams required
- Additional preferred skills include port access/management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, PICC line management, chest tube management, CVA and pre/post neurosurgery care, heparin and PCA administration, dysrhythmia management, telemetry remote monitoring, pre/post hemodialysis management, and total joint replacement care
- Social Security number and driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a 34-bed Med/Surg unit
- Royal blue scrub color required
- Free parking available onsite
- During hurricane season (June-November, peak August-September) staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
- Block scheduling requests may be considered but are not guaranteed
- First-time travelers may be accepted depending on position needs
- Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be considered; local candidates are not accepted
- All requested time off must be submitted at time of application for consideration
