Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical/Transplant unit position requiring acute care surgical floor experience and an active OK or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a Surgical/Transplant unit within a hospital setting
- Unit is a mixed stepdown (PCU) and acute care med/surg floor
- Care for post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients as well as pre-transplant patients undergoing evaluation
- Patients require close monitoring for infection, rejection, and timely medication administration
- Nurses may be assigned to med/surg or stepdown patients depending on staffing needs
- ICU nurses floated to the unit will be assigned stepdown patients based on acuity and skill set
- Night shift schedule of 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours weekly
- OR candidates will not be accepted for this role
Requirements
- Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required
- Acute care surgical floor experience required
- Stepdown/PCU experience required
- Transplant experience preferred
- ENT and/or transplant experience preferred
- Preceptor and charge experience preferred
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
- BSN or higher from a Board-approved program preferred
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills required
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of surgical and transplant patients
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and communicate changes in physician orders
- Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
- Monitor physiological data and intervene as needed based on patient condition
- Administer medications and initiate, regulate, and monitor IV infusions and blood products
- Communicate care plans with patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge
- Educate patients and families on hospital procedures
- Refer patients to appropriate personnel for additional care needs
- Delegate tasks to support staff as appropriate
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- Local candidates within the radius will not be considered
- Extensions limited to one time for a total of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
- Facility maintains strict compliance deadlines and will not allow push starts
- Candidates must be booked at least 4 weeks from time of offer to meet compliance requirements
