Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2 years of experience and prior travel experience.
Details
- Work in the MS/Tele unit of a hospital environment
- Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, CVA/neurological, and stepdown-level patients requiring monitoring
- Typical patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 19:00-7:00
- Altera charting experience preferred but not required
Requirements
- Active TX or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Med/Surg Tele required
- Prior travel nursing experience required, though may be considered on an individual basis
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Respiratory care skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team involvement required
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and surgical drain management required
- Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care required
- Charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include managing telemetry monitoring, administering blood products, and responding to cardiac emergencies
- Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with a mandatory pass required for clearance
- Candidates must be available to complete required lab items within 72 hours of accepting an offer, or provide a completion plan within that timeframe
- Previous permanent staff must have a 1-year gap in employment before returning as a traveler
- Candidates must reside within 150 miles to be considered for this position as a local, otherwise standard travel terms apply
- First-time travelers may be considered on an individual basis
