Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level I trauma center night shift position requiring ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
Details
- Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital setting
- Level I trauma center with burn center and comprehensive stroke center
- 21 beds plus a rapid medical evaluation (RME) fast track area
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4, with flexing up as needed based on volume; RME can have up to 6 patients
- Treat general ER patients ranging from minor to severe diagnoses, including trauma, burn, and stroke cases
- Significant geriatric population with multiple comorbidities, along with some pediatric patients
- Administer common ER drips as part of patient care
- Charge nurse present 24/7 on each shift, taking assignments only if needed due to staffing
- ER techs assigned to each area to support patient care
- Uses EPIC EMR system
- 12-hour night shift schedule
- Every other weekend required: Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday nights
- Every other holiday required (Memorial Day Eve, July 3rd, Labor Day Eve, Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve)
- No on-call or standby requirements
- ER RNs do not typically float; if floating occurs, it is limited to helping hands only due to EPIC charting/training requirements
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required
- Current certifications required: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), and PALS
- TNCC or TNS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior Level I trauma center or comparable acute care ER experience preferred
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels as part of the hiring process for this Drug-Free Campus
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across a range of ER cases including trauma, burn, and stroke presentations
- Work alongside a 24/7 charge nurse and dedicated ER techs for each area
- Respiratory therapy manages all ventilator and respiratory equipment in the ER
- Unit-specific orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts
- Dress code allows any color professional scrubs; hoodies are not permitted and t-shirts must display the facility emblem
- Local rate applies for clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
- No radius rule restricts eligibility for this position
- COVID vaccination is not required for this position
