Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Nephrology/Medicine unit position requiring Med/Surg and Stepdown experience along with a valid Oklahoma or compact RN license.
Details
- hospital setting within the Medicine/Nephrology unit
- Day shift schedule with 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, totaling 36 hours per week
- Cares for patients requiring central line care and management
- Cares for patients requiring foley catheter care and management
- Provides end-of-life care and management
- Manages dialysis access sites appropriately, avoiding improper use of HD catheters or fistula access for blood draws
Requirements
- Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Med/Surg and Stepdown experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a Board Approved Program preferred
- Charge nurse experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills required
Additional Information
- Provides nursing care to patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex
- Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients and documents patient responses to nursing interventions and treatments
- Assists physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Monitors physiological data and intervenes as necessary
- Administers medications and initiates, regulates, and monitors IV infusions and blood products
- Communicates care plans with patients and families throughout hospitalization and at discharge
- Delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration
- Returning travelers may extend only once for a total of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
- Compliance documentation must be completed promptly, as start dates cannot be pushed once booked
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
