Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring 5 years of experience and a CA RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Cares for patients with falls, sepsis, UTI, pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, and CHF exacerbation
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift, 5x8 hours, 2300-0730
• Every other weekend required
• On call as needed
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active CA RN license
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and peripheral line care, and starting/maintaining IVs required
• Experience accessing and managing ports preferred
• Experience with blood product administration
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, preferred
• Experience with rapid response/code teams preferred
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Experience in Cardiac Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings preferred
• Respiratory care skills including chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Genitourinary/renal skills including continuous bladder irrigation and pre/post hemodialysis management preferred
• Feeding tube care and management experience
• Heparin protocol and PCA medication management experience preferred
• Isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required
• Orthopedic experience including ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacement, and traction preferred
• Experience managing substance withdrawal preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit managing complex medical conditions
• Respond to cardiac emergencies and utilize rapid response/code teams as needed
• Adhere to isolation precautions and proper PPE usage
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day, with only one holiday request approved per contract
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Local candidates accepted at local rate
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius to qualify for travel rate
• Returning employees must have a 1-year separation before being eligible to return as a traveler
