Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Neuro ICU RN with recent Epic experience and a minimum of 2 years ICU nursing background for a Level II Trauma Center.
Details
- Neuro ICU setting within a Level II Trauma Center with 385 staffed beds
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- 3x12 day shift schedule, 7:00-19:00
- Weekend scheduling flexible based on unit needs
- No on-call requirements
- Required to float between CVICU and NTICU, as well as Telemetry, Acute Care (Neurology, Surgical, Ortho/Med), Observation, and ED boarding with a 4-hour orientation for floating
- Occasional floating to University District campus may be required
- Cares for a wide range of ICU patients including medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases such as GIB, ETOH withdrawal, DKA, sepsis, COVID, ARDS, CHF, CKD, AKI, donor care, post cardiac arrest, MSOF, CVA, and ICH
- Performs and assists with procedures including chest tube insertion/removal, central line and PICC placement, bedside tracheostomy, IO insertion, intubation, and post cardiac arrest cooling catheter placement
- Uses equipment such as PA catheters, Impella (right/left), ventilators, CRRT, IABP, Zoll cooling catheters, and Arctic Sun cooling pads
- Epic EMR used for charting
Requirements
- Active OR RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required and must be in hand before start date
- CCRN, CSC, SCRN, TCRN, TNCC, and TCAR certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required; 1.5 years in a similar ICU setting may be considered
- Recent Epic EMR experience required
- Previous trauma experience required
- Skilled in arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
- Experienced in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioning
- Proficient in titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and administration of emergency medications
- Experience managing dysrhythmias and multi-system organ failure
- Knowledge of hypothermia/hyperthermia protocols including Arctic Sun
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and chronic/acute renal failure management
- Experience with blood product administration and procedural sedation monitoring
- Two professional references from within the past 2 years required, with at least one from a supervisor
- Proof of Washington state license application required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provides critical care nursing for a high-acuity, high-complexity ICU patient population
- Serves as backup support for the Hospital Cardiac Arrest Team and Massive Transfusion Team
- Assists with insertion and removal of temporary pacers and femoral/radial sheaths
- Scrub color is unrestricted and not provided by the facility
- Free parking is available on-site
- Preference given to experienced travelers with 2-3 completed assignments; first-time travelers not considered
- Local candidates are not accepted
- Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel consideration
- Previous PeaceHealth employees must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- No restrictions on requested time off (RTO)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination status must be disclosed as part of consideration
- Start date may be delayed up to 8 weeks if candidate does not yet hold an active Washington state license
