Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ER Holding (Adult Admission Unit) position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring telemetry and dysrhythmia management skills with prior travel experience.
Details
- Work in the Adult Admission Unit (AAU), a fast-paced ER holding unit located next to the Emergency Department
- Unit admits patients from the ED and provides inpatient standard of care until placement on one of 11 progressive care units
- 17 beds plus up to 8 hall beds with frequent patient turnover (transfers and admissions)
- Diverse patient population across all specialties, excluding ICU-level patients
- Patient ratio of 1 RN to 4-5 patients
- Night shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
- Contracted hours of 36, 40, or 48 per week with facility allowed up to 3 call-offs during a 13-week assignment
- Float required to the ED for admitted patients, ICU for sub-acute care assignments, and any inpatient PCU area
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Must work 2 of the 3 holiday bundles: Thanksgiving/day after, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
Requirements
- Active RN license (New Mexico or Compact) required, pending license accepted
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (RQI certifications not accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Prior travel experience required for this position
- Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred; must be willing to work relief charge as needed
- Skilled in telemetry monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
- Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration required)
- Proficient in starting and maintaining IVs and phlebotomy
- Strong time management skills required
- Must live outside a 100-mile radius of the facility with non-local driver's license on file
Additional Information
- Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, Teaching Hospital, and Acute Care facility with 554 staffed beds
- Provide inpatient-level nursing care to admitted ED patients, including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
- May be required to work relief charge nurse duties as needed
- Scrub color is black, not provided by facility
- No parking fees
- RTO of more than 7 days requires approval; max 7 days preferred with no RTO during first or last 7 days of contract
- One holiday off is preferred within RTO guidelines
- 6-month system break required after 1 year or 4 consecutive assignments, whichever comes first
- Former staff must have 12 months of separation before returning
- New contracts and extensions require a minimum of 10 weeks
- Block scheduling will be considered
