Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU/PICU position requiring 2+ years of pediatric cardiac ICU and post-op heart experience.

Details

  • Work in a 20-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within a Magnet-designated, Level I Pediatric Trauma teaching hospital
  • Care for critically ill or injured pediatric patients from birth to young adulthood across trauma, surgery, respiratory, cardiac, hematology/oncology, and neurologic specialties
  • Perform bedside procedures including central line and arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, intubation/extubation, CRRT initiation/discontinuation, ECMO cannulation/decannulation, and emergent operative procedures
  • Utilize specialized equipment including Hamilton G5 Ventilators, DirectLink ICP Monitors, Arctic Sun Targeted Temperature Management, and Baxter Prismaflex Machines
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Weekend shifts required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Float within the hospital to NICU and Pediatric Units, and potentially to affiliate hospitals nearby
  • 13-week assignment length with Tuesday start date
  • Epic EMR used for charting

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Oregon or Compact); pending license applications accepted if submitted to the licensing board
  • Active OR RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS and PALS required, NRP preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • CVICU experience and post-op heart experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Epic EMR charting experience required
  • Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exemptions accepted
  • Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (charge RN references not accepted)
  • First-time travelers accepted if they have 2+ years of PICU experience

Additional Information

  • Provide advanced critical care nursing to pediatric patients requiring the highest level of medical or post-surgical care
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including board-certified pediatric intensivists, respiratory therapists, nutritionists, pharmacologists, therapists, social workers, and child life specialists
  • PICU intensivists staff the unit 24/7 and coordinate transport of critically ill children from surrounding states
  • Standard scrubs required (no prints); scrubs provided for OR procedures
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no mile radius restriction
  • Floating to affiliate hospitals nearby may be required; refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
  • All time off requests must be submitted upfront at time of application and cannot exceed 2 weeks
  • Former OHSU employees or previous travelers must be separated for 6+ months to be eligible to return
  • Returning candidates must provide a reference from their previous OHSU supervisor
