Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ED RN for a float pool position requiring floating across multiple facilities within the Colorado Springs zone and a CO or compact RN license.
Details
- .Works in a hospital Emergency Department float pool covering multiple facilities within Zone 1 (Colorado Springs area)
- Facilities include Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Francis InterQuest, St. Mary Corwin, and St. Thomas More
- Trauma levels vary across facilities (Level 3 and Level 4), with most serving as STEMI and Stroke receiving centers
- ER patient volume ranges from 40-168 patients per day depending on location
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5 based on acuity
- Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
- RN performs point-of-care lab testing
- RN must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently, as no monitor tech is provided
- Respiratory therapy is available 24/7
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
- No call or standby requirements
- Schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance, may follow single-facility or Just-In-Time (JIT) assignment format
- Required to float within Zone 1 facilities based on staffing needs
- Unit/department orientation runs 2-3 days
Requirements
- Active CO or Compact (NLC) RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
- BSN not required for this position
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide emergency department nursing care across multiple acuity levels and diagnoses
- Charge nurse also takes a patient assignment
- Techs support unit secretary duties and assist nurses with patient care and triage
- Scrub color is navy blue
- Must reside at least 60 miles from the float zone's city center (Colorado Springs) to qualify for travel positions
- Responsible for securing housing that allows for floating throughout the entire Zone 1 coverage area
- Clinicians should plan to be in-state for orientation week, even if initial modules are completed remotely
- No home base facility for this float pool role
