Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Medicine Step Down/Telemetry position requiring at least 1 year of stepdown/PCU experience and a compact or Oklahoma RN license.
Details
- Work in the Medicine Step Down unit of a hospital setting
- Care for a variety of medical patients with conditions ranging from simple to complex
- Night shift schedule
- 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours per week
Requirements
- Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required
- Solid and consistent experience in a stepdown/PCU unit required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Willingness to precept new nurses preferred
Additional Information
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients and deliver competent nursing care
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and treatments, noting changes in physician orders
- Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
- Obtain and monitor physiological data, observing and intervening on physiological changes
- Administer medications and initiate, regulate, and monitor IV infusions and blood products
- Communicate care plans with patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge
- Inform patients and families of hospital procedures and make appropriate referrals for care needs
- Delegate tasks to support staff as needed
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
- Compliance documentation must be completed promptly, as start dates cannot be pushed once booked
- Returning workers may extend only once for a total of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
