Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Stepdown position requiring at least one year of stepdown/PCU experience and a willingness to precept new RNs.
Details
- Work in the Medicine Step Down unit of a hospital setting
- Care for patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex
- Night shift schedule
- 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours per week
Requirements
- Active RN license (Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or multistate compact eNLC)
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Med/Surg and Stepdown/PCU experience required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
- BSN preferred
- Full DOB and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments
- Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
- Obtain and monitor physiological data, observing and intervening as needed
- Administer medications and initiate, regulate, and monitor IV infusions and blood products
- Communicate care plans with patients and families throughout hospitalization and at discharge
- Inform patients and families of hospital procedures
- Refer patient care needs to appropriate personnel and delegate tasks to support staff
- Must be willing to precept new RNs
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Returning workers may extend a contract one time for a maximum of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
- Compliance deadlines are strictly enforced, and start dates will not be pushed for candidates who are not cleared on time
- Onboarding requirements, including background checks and drug screens, must begin immediately upon offer
