Description
American Traveler is hiring an Emergency Dept RN with 5+ years of ED experience for a 13-week travel assignment at a 250-bed academic community hospital in Danville, VA.
Details
- Work in a 31-bed Emergency Room with 2 triage rooms, including 7 beds utilized for Behavioral Health or Acute patients
- Serve a patient population of all ages
- Maintain a 1:4 patient ratio, with exceptions for discharges awaiting transportation, admit holds, or high-volume days
- Utilize MedHost as the primary EHR for the ED, with Meditech used for admit holds (EMAR) and extended behavioral health stays
- Shift runs 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- 36 hours per week guaranteed
- Rotating weekends required on an as-needed basis
- Every other weekend schedule
- Floating required as needed
- No call requirements
Requirements
- Active RN license (VA or Compact)
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department experience required
- ICU experience will also be considered in combination with ED experience
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and PALS or ENPC
- Handle with Care certification required (available on-site)
- Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
- Active Nursys licensure verification required at time of consideration

- Facility is the region's only designated Chest Pain Center and Certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center
- Hospital offers comprehensive surgical services, 24-hour ED services, home health & hospice, advanced wound healing center, cardiac rehabilitation, 2 cath labs, a day surgery center, and medical/radiation oncology
- Team includes a Director of Emergency Services providing oversight
- Scrubs of any color are permitted
- Candidates must be a team player with a professional, positive, and compassionate personality
- Consent to random on-site drug screening and completion of a Criminal Questionnaire/Consent Form required
- Candidates must live 60 miles or greater from the facility to be considered for the travel rate
- Candidates cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
- Candidates cannot be employed elsewhere full time
