Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of recent L&D experience and an NC or Compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a teaching hospital with over 300 births per month
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 19:00-7:30
- Open availability required with no blocked scheduling
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend
- Floating required between High Risk and L&D units
- EPIC charting system experience required
- 13-week assignment length
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP required
- AWHONN Beginner and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent L&D experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Experience with high-risk antepartum and labor and delivery management required
- Proficiency in fetal monitoring (external and internal) and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Skills in assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, C-section circulation, and postpartum care
- 1 supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal deliveries including forceps/vacuum extraction
- Manage medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Provide neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation
- Support postpartum recovery including fundus/lochia/perineum care and breastfeeding support
- Scrubs provided in royal blue
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
- Candidates with prior permanent employment at this health system must disclose this history and must not have been a permanent employee within the past 6 months
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31-3/31) with no exemptions
- RTO must be limited to a maximum of 5-7 days
