Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float position requiring 2 years of MS/Tele experience and ACLS certification.

Details

• Float pool position covering Medical/Surgical Telemetry and related units within a short-term acute care hospital
• Floats to Medical, Surgical, Oncology, Neuro, Renal, and Cardiology units as needed
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours) from 18:45-7:15
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6 for days and weekends, and 1:6 for nights
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Holiday rotation obligation required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Float pool staff call in up to 1 hour before shift start to receive unit assignment
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Utilizes lift devices, ceiling lifts, and bladder scanners

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• IV start and Telemetry certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry remote monitoring, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Additional skills include isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
• Preferred skills include CVA care, feeding tube management, HFNC, PCA medication management, and total joint replacement care
• Must pass facial hair fit testing or be willing to shave for proper fit

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care across multiple medical and surgical units as part of a float pool team
• Pre-assignment to a specific unit may occur, with timeframe communicated in advance
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period, followed by a required 3-month break in service
• Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to a facility as a traveler
• Navy blue scrubs required
