Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Float RN with at least 2 years of MS/Tele experience for a night shift assignment requiring BLS and ACLS certifications.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting on the MS/Tele Float unit
- Patient population includes medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, and cardiology cases
- Patient ratios of 1:5-6 for days and weekends, and 1:6 for nights
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 7:15
- Weekend requirement of every other weekend or a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Holiday rotation obligation required
- Will float within scope to medical, renal, oncology, and neuro units
- Float pool staff call a recorded line up to 1 hour before shift start to receive unit assignment
- No on-call requirements
- Uses EPIC charting system
- Not open to block scheduling
Requirements
- Active MO or compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required
- IV start and telemetry experience required
- Skills in central line and peripheral line care/management required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry remote monitoring required
- Experience with feeding tube care and management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, oxygen administration, and PCA medications required
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac required
- Experience with surgical drains and total joint replacement care preferred
- Ability to use lift devices, ceiling lifts, and bladder scanner (training provided for lift devices)
- Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care across medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, and cardiology units as part of a float pool team
- Float assignments may be pre-assigned to a specific unit with advance notice, or determined via call-in prior to each shift
- No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Navy blue scrubs required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates within a 75-mile radius are not accepted
- Standard travelers must reside outside a 75-mile radius and may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
- Permanent employees of the health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Free parking available on-site
