Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring 2 years of experience and Level II trauma exposure at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital.
Details
- Acute Care Float Pool position within a hospital setting
- Unit covers medical, surgical, medical telemetry, surgical telemetry, infusion, orthopedic, and neurosurgery patients
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) or Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) available
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the hospital required, within scope of practice
- No floating to sister hospitals
- No on-call requirements
- Uses EPIC charting system
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Level II trauma experience required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
- EKG telemetry competency compliance required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
- Experience with IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and cardiac drip management
- Experience with wound care, wound vac, and isolation precautions
- Experience with insulin drip titration and IV insulin protocols
- Experience with pacemaker management and pre/post cardiac catheterization care
- Experience with total joint replacement and traction care preferred
Additional Information
- Work in a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level 4 Trauma Center status
- Provide care across a diverse patient population spanning medical, surgical, telemetry, and specialty units
- Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
- First-time travelers may be considered pending manager screening
- Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
- RTO is limited to a maximum of 1 week and cannot be requested during the first 2 weeks of assignment
- Former UW Medical Center staff must have an 18-month separation period before returning as a traveler
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
- Any color scrubs permitted
