Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care setting in a Level II trauma facility
• Post-Surgical unit (2E) with 15 beds serving Ortho, Urology, GYN/ONC, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, ENT, Plastics, and GI patients
• Acute medical patients with short anticipated length of stay may also be admitted
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 (0700-1900) and 1:5-6 (1900-0730)
• Night shift schedule from 1900 to 0730
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Uses Cerner EMR, currently transitioning to Epic
• Telemetry monitoring present with remote technician strip reading; GE tele system used
• RN required to titrate drips including Heparin, and occasionally Nitro, Cardizem, and insulin
• RT support available for CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow Oxygen Therapy (no ventilators)
• Charge Nurse takes an assignment on all shifts and a House Supervisor is present on all shifts
• Nursing Assistants present with ratios of 1:8-12 (0630-1900); RNs take lower ratio on NOC shift without a nursing assistant
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling provided based on staffing availability
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating required to other adult medical/surgical nursing units

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• BSN not required for this position
• Cerner EMR experience preferred due to unit usage

Additional Information

• Provide post-surgical and acute medical nursing care across a variety of specialties including ortho, urology, GYN/ONC, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, ENT, plastics, and GI
• Titrate medication drips as part of daily patient care responsibilities
• Unit orientation includes 1 day of computer training and 1-2 days of precepted floor orientation based on skills
• Dress code allows any color scrubs as long as clean and professional
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Candidates who previously worked at the facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
• Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
