Med Surg RN - 4th Floor

Job Overview

• Location: Weston, Wisconsin
• Setting: Medical-surgical inpatient unit
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS (AHA) certification
• At least 1 year of medical-surgical experience
• Must disclose if the clinician has ever worked for Marshfield; if previously employed there, the end date must be at least 6 months before submission

Unit Details

• 30 beds
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios: 4-6 on days; 5-6 on nights, occasionally up to 7
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Nurse aides are present on the unit at a ratio of 1:10

Patient Population

• Post-op orthopedic and general surgery patients
• Medical patients with conditions such as hypertension, heart failure, pneumonia, COPD, altered mental status, TIA, diabetes, sepsis, UTI, and AKI

Clinical Expectations

• Rarely required to titrate drips
• Common drips include heparin and PCA
• RN does not need to read or interpret telemetry strips
• Floating may include CNA-level support to IMC, ICU, or ED

Scheduling and Work Conditions

• Weekend coverage may vary, including every 3rd weekend, every other weekend, or none
• Holiday coverage: 2 of 3 winter holidays and every other holiday otherwise
• No call or standby requirement
• Must clock in and out at the facility

Orientation

• 3 days of agency orientation
• First day includes CBTs and shadowing if completed early

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs
