Description
American Tralerler is hiring an experergency Department RN for a Level 2 trauma center requiring at least 2 years of ED experience, active SD or compact RN license, and multiple advanced certifications including TNCC and PALS.
Details
- Work in a high-volume Emergency Department seeing 150-180 patients daily across 33 main ED beds plus vertical care overflow space
- Care for a mix of trauma, medical, and behavioral health patients including 8 dedicated Trauma/Resuscitation beds and a 4-room Behavioral Health pod
- Level 2 trauma center with heavy trauma volume including stab wounds, GSWs, MVCs, drownings, and falls, especially during summer months
- Designated Comprehensive Stroke Center capable of managing stroke symptom onset up to 24 hours
- Treat patients across the lifespan from neonates to geriatric, including sepsis, DKA, respiratory illness, and GI bleeds requiring emergent blood products
- Support cardiac patients with on-site cardiac catheterization lab access
- RN patient ratio of 1:4-5 with ED Tech support at 1:10
- 12-hour variable shifts including 0630-1900, 1000-2230, 1200-0030, 1400-0200, and 1830-0700, with 36 hours per week scheduled
- Will not be scheduled to work both day and night shifts within the same week
- Potential to work every weekend depending on staffing needs to fill gaps in the permanent staff schedule
- No on-call responsibilities
- May float to inpatient Med/Surg, PCU, or ICU areas strictly as a task nurse without taking a full assignment
- EPIC EMR system in use, along with Omnicell and Alaris equipment
Requirements
- Active SD or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and PALS
- CPI or MAB/MOAB certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, excluding travel experience
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program approved by a board of nursing
- Experience with sexual assault patient care including evidence collection (buccal swabs, fingernail scraping, clothing collection, and victim interviewing) required, though pelvic exams are not required
- Strong ESI triage assessment skills and ability to prioritize patient care based on acuity
- Critical thinking and communication skills needed to manage a wide range of patient acuities
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
Additional Information
- Support staff on the unit includes ED Techs, Lead Tech, 24/7 Charge Nurse coverage, 24/7 phlebotomy, Respiratory Therapy, 24/7 physician and NP coverage, Radiology/CAT Scan, Pharm Tech, and Security
- No IV/VAT team support available
- Orientation includes 8 hours of facility-based New Employee Orientation plus 4 hours of ED-specific education and a minimum of two 12-hour shifts on the unit
- May be expected to precept nursing students
- Navy scrub color required
- Free parking provided
- Holiday coverage only required if needed
- Time off requests require manager approval, and no time off will be approved during the first three weeks of August due to the Sturgis Bike Rally
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Travelers must live more than 100 miles from any Monument facility to be eligible
- Permanent staff must wait a full year before returning in a travel role
