Description
American Traveler is hiring a Level IV NICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of Level III+ NICU experience and current NRP/BLS certification.
Details
- Level IV NICU in an acute care hospital setting with 50 beds
- Patient population includes micro preemies, preemie growers, surgical, BPD, NAS, genetic anomalies, and cardiac cases
- Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 in ICU and 1:3 or 1:4 in NSDU
- Uses EPIC EMR system (preferred experience)
- 12-hour night shifts scheduled 7pm-7am
- Weekend coverage desired and negotiable, typically 1-2 per schedule
- Possible holiday coverage for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's as needed
- No call or standby requirements
- May float to PICU, Inpatient Pediatrics, or Labor & Delivery
- RNs may titrate drips under MD order, including Dopamine, Dobutamine, Prostins, Insulin, and Sedation
- Neonatologist in house 24/7 with Charge Nurse and House Supervisor support
- Nurse aides staffed 2 per shift on the unit
- RT equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP in use
- Monitored beds present, no monitor techs, and no requirement to read strips
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- ACLS and PALS preferred but not required
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience in a Level III NICU or higher required
- BSN not required for this position
- Skills in neonate assessment, IV therapy, and medication administration required
- Feeding, vent, and CPAP care experience preferred
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Candidates with limited vent/CPAP experience may be considered for stepdown placement
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates including micro preemies, surgical, and cardiac patients
- Unit-specific orientation provided by NICU Clinical Preceptors, tailored to experience level
- Pewter gray scrub color required per dress code
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to qualify for travel rate
- Previous permanent employees must have a 2-year break before reapplying as travelers
- Previous travelers who completed a full year at this facility must take a 2-year break before returning
- Cumulative experience across WVU Medicine facilities applies toward the 1-year travel limit, after which a 2-year break is required
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
