Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg Observation Unit position requiring an active MI RN license, ACLS certification, and 2 years of experience.

Details

• Work in the Observation Unit (Chest Pain Critical Decision) of a 225-bed specialty care hospital
• Level 2 trauma center located on the 6th floor
• Adult and geriatric patient population ranging from 18 to 125 years old
• Patient ratios of 5:1 to 6:1
• Uses telemetry monitors, Baxter IV pumps, Kangaroo pumps, bladder scanners, and Dynamaps
• Charts in Cerner EHR
• 12-hour shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Rotating weekend requirement
• Occasional floating to like units

Requirements

• Active RN license (Michigan) required
• Current ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Med/Surg unit experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree required
• Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to perform effectively in a high-stress environment
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
• Copies of required certifications must be provided

Additional Information

• Provide acute medical/surgical nursing care within an observation unit setting
• Orientation occurs on a bi-weekly basis
• Scrub color must be Galaxy Blue or Navy
• Fingernails must be clean, appropriately trimmed, and compliant with hand hygiene policy
• Visible tattoos that may be considered offensive must be covered
• Excessive jewelry is not permitted
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the past 12 months are not eligible
• Candidates cannot be employed elsewhere on a full-time basis while on assignment
