Description
American Traveler is seeking a Night Shift RN for an ED Holds/Tele position requiring an active AZ or Compact RN license and prior cardiac telemetry experience
Details
- Acute care ED Holds/Tele unit within a Level 3 trauma hospital
- Cares for ED patients awaiting placement on an inpatient unit, primarily MS/Tele population
- 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with self-scheduling, subject to change
- 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
- Holiday coverage rotates with permanent staff
- No call or standby requirements
- Floats to med/surg/tele/overflow units and other campus EDs as needed
- Utilizes Cerner EMR
- Titrates cardiac drips including Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone
- No ventilators present on unit
- No monitor techs on unit; RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac telemetry experience preferred
- Must be able to titrate and decrease cardiac drips per physician orders and parameters
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam through UNA prior to starting (maximum 2 attempts)
- Must pass a pass/fail sterile technique sim lab on the first day of orientation
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide care for ED hold patients awaiting placement on an inpatient unit
- May assist with ED patient care including vitals, IV starts, and medication administration, but will not serve as primary RN for ED patient assignments
- ED PCTs are available to support patient care
- Reports to the ED charge nurse
- Unit-specific orientation includes 2 shifts on Med/Surg/Tele at the primary campus
- Navy scrub color required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address
- Candidates employed directly (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible
