Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Interventional Radiology position requiring both General IR and Neuro IR experience including strokes, bleeds, TIPS, and carotid stenting.
Details
- Interventional Radiology department in a Level III Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center with Magnet Designation
- Department staffed 24/7 with 5 procedure rooms and around 40-50 patients seen per day
- Adult patient population only, no pediatric cases
- General IR procedures include kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, central lines/PICCs/ports, fistulograms, IVC filters, nephrostomy tubes, nephroureteral stents, peripheral leg cases, coil embolization, and thoras/paras
- CT room support for cryos, CT biopsies, and drains during day shift
- Neuro IR procedures include strokes and embolization, with DSA, WADA test, and spinal angios performed during day shift only
- 10-hour night shift, Monday through Thursday, 2100-0730, 40 hours per week
- No floating required
- On-call required: weekday call once per week (end of shift until 0700 the following morning) and weekend call approximately once every 5th or 6th weekend (Friday end of shift until Monday 0700)
- No on-call responsibilities for overnight shift assignments
- Response time of 30 minutes required for call
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 12 months of recent core experience in Interventional Radiology
- Required experience in both General IR and Neuro IR, including strokes, bleeds, TIPS, and carotid stenting
- Ability to work independently
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Experience with Siemens and GE equipment preferred
- Experience administering sedation and monitoring/charting for IR patients
- AAA intervention experience preferred
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Administer sedation, monitor patients, and chart during IR procedures
- Support staff on the unit includes two coordinators, two lead techs, tech specialists, 24/7 respiratory therapy, 24/7 hospitalist coverage, and 24/7 CNA/transporter support
- Typically two techs per exam room, with a third tech added for more involved cases
- Preceptored orientation for 1-2 weeks with competency check-off
- Scrubs provided and free parking available in the parking structure with badge access
- No current holiday requirements, though subject to change to call-only coverage
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be approved
- COVID vaccine required
- First-time travelers accepted if they have IR experience
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
- Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for a travel assignment
