Opportunity:
RN - Interventional Radiology
Job Details:
• Work in a department staffed 24/7 treating all adult patients with no pediatric cases
• General IR procedures include kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, central lines/PICCs/ports, fistulograms, IVC filters, nephrostomy tubes, nephroureteral stents, peripheral leg cases, coil embolization, and thoracentesis/paracentesis
• CT Room procedures supported by IR include cryos, CT biopsies, and drains (not performed at night)
• AAA intervention experience preferred
• Neuro IR responsibilities include strokes and embolization; DSA, WADA tests, and spinal angios are not performed at night
• Must have IR and Neuro experience including strokes, bleeds, TIPS, and carotid stenting
• Must be able to work independently
• Average patient volume of 40-50 patients per day
• Administer sedation unless anesthesia is involved; monitor and chart patient care
• General IR shift times: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM; Neuro shift times: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
• Weekday on-call requirement: 1 call shift per week (Monday-Thursday), end of shift until following morning at 7:00 AM
• Weekend on-call requirement: once every 5th or 6th weekend (Friday-Sunday), end of shift Friday until Monday at 7:00 AM
• On-call response time: 30 minutes
• Travelers will take Neuro call only if they have Neuro experience; those with both Neuro IR and General IR experience may be asked to take both
• Weekend rotation is call-based
• No floating to other units
• Up to 7 days of requested time off can be approved
• Will orient with a preceptor for 1-2 weeks with check-off upon completion
• EMR: EPIC - experience preferred
• IV pumps: Alaris
• Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• PACS: Change Healthcare
• Equipment: Siemens and GE - experience preferred; Injector: MedRad; Additional equipment includes IVUS, Ultrasound (GE), Laser, Bovie, and Angiojet
• Scrubs provided
• Free parking available in parking structure with badge access
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Minimum 1 year of experience accepted; first-time travelers accepted with IR experience
• 5 procedure rooms available
Facility:
This hospital is a large 933-bed facility designated as a Level III Trauma Center and Level III NICU, with Magnet Designation and Comprehensive Stroke Center status. The facility operates a robust Interventional Radiology department staffed 24/7, supported by a full team including two coordinators, two lead technicians, tech specialists, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, 24/7 Hospitalist coverage, and around-the-clock CNA/Transporter support.
